Nelsen Corporation was founded in 1954 by Emil and Ron Nelsen as Century Water Conditioning Company, a retail pump and water softener dealership. Originally located in Emil Nelsen’s residence in North Royalton, Ohio, operations were conducted from an enclosed back-porch office and a small barn that served as the warehouse.
Although most sales were to homeowners at retail prices, a few well drillers and pump dealers were also regular customers. As sales increased, more and more products were purchased directly from manufacturers in order to supply the dealer trade.
In 1956, the business was moved to a rented commercial building in North Royalton, Ohio and then moved again in 1964 to a larger facility in Broadview Heights, Ohio. This location allowed further expansion of wholesale sales to area dealers.
In 1975, the business moved to its present location in Norton, Ohio and became 100% wholesale. In 1988, a new division, Ground Water Supply, was founded and operated in the states surrounding Ohio. Rapid growth in this business and in water conditioning sales has led to several office and warehouse additions. The present facilities now include over 45,000 square feet of warehouse space and almost $2,000,000 in inventory.
Ultimately, Nelsen Pump and Supply and Ground Water Supply were consolidated into Nelsen Corporation. Today the company remains family-owned and operated, and efficiently supplies its products to over 800 dealers worldwide under the Nelsen Corporation Banner.
